ভিজব না আর কথায়

(১)

পূর্ণিমার অন্ধকার, অমাবস্যার আলো -

তোমার আমার সম্পর্কের নাম না থাকাই ভালো

it is better that our relationship 

remains unnamed

let it be the gloom of full moon 

or the refulgence of a moonless night

(২)

বৃষ্টি হলেই ভিজবো

এবার ভিজবো না আর কথায়

বৃক্ষ হতে চেয়ে

আমি জড়িয়ে গেলাম লতায়

i shall wet in rain

never ever in proposition

i desired to be a tree

but ended up 

entwined in vines

(৩)

নদী

পথ ভুলে

মধু হয়ে

ঘুমিয়েছে ফুলে

river

lost its stream

into nectar

now she slumbers 

into flowers

(৪)

যখন হাটি,

কেমন দেখায়

সবাই জানে,

দেখিনি আমি একাই

when I walk
how I walk

the world know

i know not

(৫)

ভীষণ কাছে গেলে

কিছু দেখতে পাই না

দেখার জন্য তেমন দূরে

যেতেও চাই না

proximity

blinds my eyes

yet i desire not to go far

to catch a sight of thine

(৬)

অনেক স্নানের পর

জন্মদাগ মোছে না যেমন

তুমিও তেমন

even after a thousand ablution

birthmarks never dim

so are thee

(৭)

ভালোই আছি একা একা

রক্তশূন্য হলে

যেমন ফর্সা দেখায়

me myself and i
'we' are doing fine
just as one looks fair

when blood thins in the air

(৮)

অনেক প্রিয় মুখ

হারিয়ে যায়,

তারা কেউ মৃত নয়

i have lost a lot many cherished faces; they are not lost though.

(৯)

যদি ডানা থাকে তবে উড়ে এসো

যদি মানা থাকে তবে ঘুরে এসো

if you have wings

fly for a while

if you are unasked 

walk for a while

(১০)

শ্যাম্পুর বোতল থেকে

হাওয়া বেরুচ্ছে

আর তোমার ভেতর থেকে

অভিমান

air wafting out of a bottle 

of shampoo

and 'oviman'

out of you

(১১)

তুমি এবার কোনও মতে

পারবে আগুন হতে

will you be ever

be a fire in ember

(১২)

জলের মধ্যে ছায়া ঘুরছে

ছায়ার মধ্যে জল

জলের তবু তল রয়েছে

ছায়া তো অতল

shadows meander in water

and water in the shadows

water has its nethermost

and shadows have none

(১৩)

লাগাম ছাড়া

ব্যাথার পাশে

দাঁড়িয়ে আছে

শুভেচ্ছারা

good wishes stand by

while sorrows unbridled

(১৪)

চোখ রেখেছি জানলায়

আসবে আদর

ভাসবে আবার নৌকা

looking past the window pane

tenderness is on the offing

and once again,

the raft is sure to float

(১৫)

নষ্ট হয় না জীবন

শুধু

কষ্ট হয়

life is never undone
it’s but a rictus 

a pain

(১৬)

কখনওই আমি

যাবো না তোমার কাছে

কারণ সেখানে

বারণ লুকানো আছে

to your door

never shall i knock

for

there remains

your hidden 

forbiddance

(১৭)

যে দিকে সূর্য্য

সে দিকে মুখ গাছের

যেখানে আদর

সেখানে রাস্তা কাছের

faces of a vine

follows the sunny rays thine
if endearment is 

there

distance never is 

far

(১৮)

পা ফেলেছি দু চোখ বুজে

না হারালে পাই না খুঁজে

i walked with eyes closed

if not lost, never do i get it back

(১৯)

জীবনে এতো সূর্যাস্ত দেখিনি

যতটা দেখেছি

তোমাকে নিভে যেতে

never have i seen that many sunset

until i saw you drowning 

in eventide

(২০)

যখন তোমাকে ছুঁই

মনে হয় পৃথিবী ছুঁয়ে আছি

when i lay my touch unto you touch
i feel touching the total terrene

(২১)

আক্রোশে চাই সূর্য্য হতে

দুঃখে তোমার গান

in rage i desire to be the sun

in sorrow - song of yours

(২২)

প্রদীপ নেভাই

যখন শুধু

জ্যোৎস্না বাকি 

i blow the the candle out

when moonlight alights

ঘুমের অভ্যাসে বিছানা চিনে যাই,

ব্যাথার অভ্যাসে বিষ,

পাগলী এখনও কি আগের মতো তুই?

আড়ালে ভালোবাসা নিস?

i know of mattress ‘cause I slumber

i know of bane ‘cause I pain

O’ Darling, 

are you still the same?

Are you still drinking my love 

up from your yonder den?

(২৫)

রাত্রে যখন বাড়ি ফিরি সব রাস্তা বন্ধ পাড়ায়,

এত মানুষ জাপটে ধরেও নিজের ছায়া একলা দাঁড়ায় !

when i return to my own element

i see all the trails enjoined

it's dark

i touched many a living men and women
and 

yet my shadow stands forlorn

(২৬)

ঘুম ভেঙে দেখি

তোমার কথারা আমাকে ঘিরে

রাত ভেসে গেছে শিশিরে।

as i wake up

i see your words dance around me

and a rush of dew have swept the night away

(২৭)

ভালোবাসা তোমার কাছে

সবার কিছু গল্প আছে।

O’ Love

unto thee 

every person has a tale to tell.

(২৮)

এখন কেউ হাত ধরে না,

পুরনো কিছু মনে পড়ে না।

No more of hold hands

No more of mindful remembrance

(২৯)

স্নান ঘরে এক নির্জনতা

হাওয়ার মতো ঘুরছে,

তোমার চুল উড়ছে।

a loneliness winnows the air in the shower

undulating tresses of yours flutter

(৩০)

সব ব্যাথা

ঋণী থাক

আঘাতের কাছে।

let the pain

be indebted to

infliction

(৩১)

শীতের বেয়ারা রোগ

যেমন গোপনে আসে টমেটো পাতায়,

প্রত্যেক সম্পর্কের মধ্যে একটা ঘুনপোকা থাকে,

সে আমাকে কুরে কুরে খায়।

fractious disease of winter, stealthily afflicts the tomato leaves; 

likewise, every relationship has its own termites; 

it keeps nibbling upon my heart

(৩২)

হয় জীবিত না হয় মৃত

সবাই কোথাও বিতর্কিত।

Live or dead; somewhere we all are unsettled.

(৩৩)

প্রথম ছুতো

আর দ্বিতীয় ইচ্ছের মাঝখানে

তোমাকে দেখেছি।

I have seen you in between my first peep and second intention.

(৩৪)

সময়ে ছেড়েছে ট্রেন,

দুঃসময়ে প্রেম।

train left at an august time

and love at juncture

(৩৫)

যে কেবল ভাঙে,

বিষের আদলে ঘূমিয়ে থাকে,

খুব বেশি বড়

হতে যেন তুমি দিয়ো না তাকে।

one that mar so easy 

and sleeps so septic

let that grow no too high

(৩৬)

সবাই নিজেকে কিছুটা সময় একা ভাবে ,

যার পর

সে এগিয়ে যাবে।

there comes a time when everyone feels a certain forlornness
and then he will get up and keep going

(৩৭)

অনন্ত কাল কত প্রহর জুড়ে?

অনন্ত কাল কত যোজন দূরে?

how many moments does eternity suffuse?

how far a distance is eternity’s refuge?

(৩৮)

কী সুন্দর

চোঁখ দুটো।

ভেসে যাচ্ছে

খড়কুটো।

how lovely is pair of eyes

that flushes away 

all those puny reeds 

and straws

(৩৯)

আপনভোলা

প্রজাপতির

জামার সব বোতাম খোলা !

bemused butterfly 

left its zipper 

undone

(৪০)

জল চিনি না, ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ি

বিন্দুকে এক সাগর ভেবে

ছেঁড়া কাগজ ছবির মতো

একদিন কেউ সাজিয়ে দেবে !

mistook a drop for an ocean and lunged into ...

out of torn cardboard someone shall frame a collage

তোমাকে রোজ রোজ ভুলে যাচ্ছি

তোমার কথা ভেবে।

when i think of you

you are consigned into oblivion

(৪২)

ভালোবাসা মানে গান থেমে গেলে

গোছানো চিঠির বাক্স বদল

ভালোবাসা মানে আলো নেই

শুধু রাত -পাহারায় চাঁদ সম্বল

when the singing stops
one rearranges the piles of neatly kept letters
this is love

when the night is dark
one keeps the company of the moon 
this is love

(৪৩)

তোমার মতো নরম শুধু ফাগুন-ভেজা খই

এতো রকম বৃষ্টি হল, আগুন ভেজে কই !

your tenderness is like the tenderness of puffed rice 
that has been wet with the essence Falgun

it has rained so much with so many kinds of rain 
and yet, fire has never been wet 

(৪৪)

একটা মাত্র ভালো জায়গা

হৃদয়।

সেখানে কেউ আসতে বললে

কী হয় !

the one and only sound seat
this is heart

when one sips into the heart of another 
befalls what

(৪৫)

তুমি ভিজলে স্বচ্ছ আরও

ধুলো ভিজলে

কাদা !

when you wet, you are crystal clear

when dust is wet, it is a dirty mire

(৪৬)

আবার তোমায় দেখতে পাব বসন্তদিন, অভিমানে,

দরজা খোলা, দাঁড়িয়ে আছো খুচরো প্রেমের উপাখ্যানে !

you stand at the open door vending causal stories of love

once again i see you on a spring day; sensitive and sad
